Brown Bread


1 Pouch (375g) PK Foods Flour Mix

2 Tbsp Granulated sugar

1 Tbsp Molasses

420ml or 14floz Warm water (105 - 110F)**

1 ½ Fast-acting dry yeast


1. Preheat oven to 375F, 180C or gas mark 5.

2. In a large bowl, dissolve sugar and molasses in warm water. Add yeast and stir well.

3. Leave to stand for 10 minutes. Stir well to remove bubbles.

4. Add 1 pouch P.k.u mix to yeast mixture and stir until moistened.

5. Using an electric mixer, beat batter for 3 minutes at medium speed.

6. Grease or oil large loaf tin. Pour batter into tin.

7. Put tin into warm moist place and leave to rise to top of tin. (About 40 - 50 minutes).

8. Bake for 35 – 40 minutes or until golden brown. The loaf should sound hollow when the top is tapped with the knuckles.

9. Allow cooling for 5 minutes and removing from pan cool on a wire rack. Serve plain or toasted.
